Every contractor who has paid for leads has run into posts that were never real opportunities. Someone testing the site. A homeowner who posted and forgot about it. The same job posted three times. A "job" that turns out to be something else entirely. On a pay-per-lead platform, each of those can cost you money.
Jobiteer tackles this from two directions: making sure you don't pay for posts where nobody ever shows up, and making it harder for junk posts to reach the board at all.
If nobody engages, you get your credits back
If you unlock a job and the homeowner never replies to you and doesn't hire you, your unlock credits come back automatically once the job closes. That covers a lot of what makes fake and abandoned posts expensive. A post from someone who was never going to follow through usually ends exactly that way, in silence.
It also means a dead post doesn't use up any of your credits. The platform has no reason to let dead posts pile up, because those unlocks get returned.
The refund has a clear limit: if the homeowner replies, even briefly, the credits stay spent, since a real conversation happened. It's built for true silence, not for every lead that doesn't work out.
Safeguards that keep junk off the board
The refund handles the cost side. These handle the quality side:
- Duplicate posts are blocked. A homeowner can't post the exact same job again right after posting it, so you're not seeing (or paying for) the same request twice.
- Reported posts get hidden. If you run into something that isn't a real job, you can report it. After enough reports from the community, a post is hidden automatically and flagged for review.
- Abandoned posts close on their own. Homeowners get reminders, and a job that goes unfilled for long enough closes automatically. Closed jobs stop accepting new unlocks and drop out of the board's Active view, so stale posts can't eat your credits.
- Posts can't change after you've paid. Once a contractor has unlocked a job, the homeowner can no longer edit or delete it, so nobody can swap in a different job after you've already committed.
Accountability on both sides
Homeowners on Jobiteer have ratings too. Contractors can review the homeowners they've worked with, and those ratings show up on job posts. It's a quick signal you can glance at before unlocking, and it gives homeowners a reason to treat contractors' time with respect.
What this means for you
No system can stop every bad post, and we won't pretend otherwise. What these pieces do together is shift the risk. Silent posts don't cost you your credits, junk posts have a harder time getting through, and the posts you do pay for stay the way they were when you chose them.
You spend your credits on real people with real jobs. The rest is our problem to deal with, not yours.
