Any platform where people post and message each other will attract some bad behavior eventually. Scam listings, fake jobs, people who harass others. The honest truth is that no moderation system is ever done. People find new ways to misuse things, and a system that worked last month can have gaps next month.
We treat moderation on Jobiteer as ongoing work. Here's where it stands.
What's in place today
- Reported posts come down automatically. When enough different people report the same job post, it's hidden from the board and closed, without waiting for a moderator.
- Reported users get human review. Reports about a person alert our team, who look at the account before taking action.
- Exact duplicate posts are blocked before they reach the board.
- You can block users. Blocking stops new messages in both directions, and your block list is private.
- Contact details are masked in job descriptions and profiles, so posts can't be used to route people off the platform.
How it's changed recently
Several of those pieces have been reworked based on what we learned from testing the system for real, not just on paper:
- Reports got harder to abuse. We added safeguards so a small group of accounts can't easily gang up on a legitimate post or person.
- Restored content is harder to re-target. If something is reported, reviewed, and restored, it now takes more reports to hide it again. That stops the same post from being knocked down over and over.
- Slow-building reports count. Reports used to reset after a short window, which meant a problem reported slowly over time might never add up. Now they count across the whole life of a post.
- Our team sees problems earlier. Admins can now see reported content before it reaches the point of being hidden automatically, not only after.
- Blocking was added, giving you a direct way to cut off contact with someone.
What's still on our list
One thing we haven't built yet is better detection of patterns over time, like accounts that keep ending up in the review queue even though each individual report gets dismissed. It's on our list. We'd rather tell you that plainly than pretend the system is complete.
How you can help
The system works best when the community uses it. If you see a post that isn't a real job, a listing that looks like a scam, or someone behaving badly, report it. Every report gives us more to work with, both to act on right away and to see where the system needs to improve next.
A clean, trustworthy board is something we keep working on, not something we declared finished.
