You Don't Have to Race for Every Lead

By Morgan · September 28, 2026

A lot of lead generation is built around speed. A notification pops up, and the unspoken rule is that whoever responds first has the best shot. That turns your phone into a slot machine. You're checking it on the job site, between appointments, at dinner, worried that if you wait an hour, the lead will be gone.

Jobiteer is set up differently. There's no auto-assignment and no race to claim a job, so you can look at leads when it suits you and decide on your own timeline.

No auto-assignment, no alarm bells

Some platforms match you to customers automatically. Thumbtack's Instant Match, for example, connects customers with pros based on preferences the pro sets ahead of time. That can work if you want leads delivered to you, but it means the flow of work is being set for you rather than chosen by you in the moment.

On Jobiteer, nothing is assigned to you. Open jobs sit on the job board, and you browse them when you have a minute. If you want a heads-up, you can set up a saved search and get a notification when a matching job is posted, but that's your choice, and it's only a notice. Nothing is charged or assigned to you. The same goes for a homeowner asking for you by name: you'll see that request, but it's free to receive and there's no charge unless you choose to unlock it.

A job doesn't disappear because someone else unlocked it

There's no cap on how many contractors can unlock the same job, so another contractor unlocking first doesn't take the job away from you. You can see how many contractors are already chatting with the homeowner on each job, which helps you decide whether it's worth jumping in.

To be clear about the limits: a job stops accepting new unlocks once the homeowner hires someone or closes the post. So you can't wait forever. But you're working with a normal window of time to make a decision, not a countdown measured in minutes.

Decide on your terms

When you're not racing, you make better decisions. You can:

Better decisions, better conversations

A rushed reply to a lead you barely read rarely makes a great first impression. When you unlock a job because you've looked it over and actually want it, you already know the details, and what you say to the homeowner can be specific to what they need. That's a stronger start than a hurried reply to a post you only skimmed.

You still have to show up and do good work. You just don't have to win a sprint every time your phone buzzes.
